run for her® Team “Sheila’s 50th” Birthday Celebration

Mike SargentJuly 7, 2011

On Sunday, July 2nd, Sheila, her husband David, and their daughters Cassidy and Erin Golden hosted their own run for her® Sleepwalker 5k run/walk in Toluca Lake.

It was such a wonderful time. Full of fun, great conversation, and even a few tears.

It was Sheila’s “good karma” way to celebrate her 50th birthday.

I joined over 50 friends and neighbors of the Goldens’ and walked through a well marked course from and back to their beautiful home. There were balloons, run for her® signs, directional arrows and two water stations along the way.

The food back at their house was amazing. Every type of fruit, bagels, sweets, and drinks including champagne were available.

Sheila requested no gifts, rather donations to run for her® and her team “Sheila’s 50th“.

It was an amazing morning. A great opportunity to meet new people while raising awareness and research funds to fight the ovarian cancer battle.

Sheila really captured what the run for her® Sleepwalker Across America campaign is all about and kicked us off to a great start for this year.

Thank You from the bottom of my heart Sheila!

As explained on the run for her® website:

It’s Easy to Become a Sleepwalker
You can support run for her® in your local city. Just register as an individual, start a team or join a team online to become a virtual walker.

As a Sleepwalker, you can choose the scope of participation that works for you. You can virtually walk from your own couch, walk to your local coffee shop or organize your own team walk in your local park or neighborhood to honor your commitment to the “Her” in your life and stop ovarian cancer.

You can also hold a contest with friends, family members and co-workers in other cities or states. Or, ask your company to sponsor teams and promote Sleepwalkers Across America in their local or national markets.

The key is to keep it fun, keep it flexible and always keep the commitment to finding a cure for ovarian cancer at the forefront! Keep us updated on your Sleepwalker activities by emailing photos, videos, and/or stories to runforher@cshs.org
